Welcome to ISHRS 29th World Meeting! I would like to start by wishing you and your families my personal best—for your health and safety in these difficult times. I would also like to express my profound gratitude to all those doctors, nurses, and workers who are serving so selflessly on the front lines of this health crisis. Covid-19 is causing tragic loss of life; and the measures needed to fight it have turned our world upside down—affecting billions of people and stopping economies in their tracks.
As we prepare for our meeting, I think about the words of L.M. Montgomery in her famous novel Anne of Green Gables: “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” And for the past 10 years my Octobers are about learning, travel, meeting my longtime friends and joining them in enriching conversations about a topic that I am passionate about.
Despite the extraordinary uncertainty we have been facing, we know we can chart a path forward, and with the advancing vaccination programs worldwide, we rejoice in meeting in-person again.
We are excited at offering this meeting in an on-demand virtual format for those colleagues who can´t participate in-person. This will be an excellent academic opportunity for not missing out on the learning experience ISHRS always offers. We will all join together again online for the webinars in 2022, to continue discussing the scientific advancements in our field.
We have planned for a three day meeting packed with different activities. We will have nine different General Sessions, with 14 different topics to discuss. Each day we will have a featured guest speaker with different topics like: psycho-tricho-dermatology, hair cloning advancements, and computed tomography for hair counting.
Our COVID task force has worked hard to deliver the healthiest environment possible to those who wish to attend. And last but not least, our socializing events… although we will have to celebrate at a healthy distance, we will bring that cozy feeling we´ve been missing for quite some time.
